| AT THE FIRESIDE |
My sorrows are like burning embers,
Never dying, never dying.
The conflagration is over.
Wiped out by the ashes of time.
But these embers still live on.
Never dying, never dying.
What was once a young black coal,
Eager, expectant to face the world.
Caught in the crucifying clutch of circumstance,
Bruised, battered, beaten and wasted,
left to die a shrunken, useless white sickly thing.
But even in ashen forgotteness,
Burn red hot reminders of the past,
Kindled by a reminiscent wind,
To open healed scars anew.

| THE WIND AND THE SEA |
| |
You are like the wind and I am like the sea,
You can stir my emotions and make a storm out of me
, or you can blow over gently
leaving me in tranquility.
You are what I always wanted to be,
You roam the earth so light and carefree,
But to forever wash the shores of my native land ,
seems to be my destiny. You don't seem bound by the cares of this world,
But i am bogged down by the chasms that lie underneath me,
some self created some real.
You have the power to blow the clouds away from me.
You can make the sun shine through,
or you can gather the tempest around me,
churning emotions out of my soul,
till its devoid of all feeling.
I cant seem to touch you as you soar into the heavens,
But as I look to the distant horizon,
I see there is a place where the sky seems to meet the sea,
And i hope that one day that will be my destiny... |

DELTA |

Change - everything must change,
even the planets and stars rearrange,
caught in the cycle of time, in our lives
we can never step into the same river twice.
Everything changes, nothing remains the same,
things, people, places and feelings.
is there no eternal beauty, spring or love in this life?
Does everything blossom only to die?
As i travel through space and time i have only one wish,
to find permanence without stagnation which i so cherish.
Do i now have to look for it across galaxies so very far?
to the cold, dead, distant but relatively unchanging North Star. |
